Who are you, Rising Sun?

Hello world,
Today (or last night, depending on what you consider 3 a.m.), I put an exceedingly violent brain ninja into my mind. Who in God's name wrote 'The House of the Rising Sun'? If you say The Animals, you're wrong. They made it famous, but the song wasn't originally written by them. The oldest known recording was made by some random people, and that was in 1933. Why the hell do I care? Because it's a damned good song, and I want their to be some excessively awesome answer to my question. My best guess would probably be Sasquatch. Now, to go on a tangent, I just saw a commercial for a potentially awesome movie. It's entitled The Men Who Stare at Goats, and stars George Clooney and Ewan McGregor. It could be amazing, but we'll see.
